I’m going to be personal with my blog today. I’ve experienced hopelessness, sadness, depression, uncertainty, helplessness, and thoughts of giving up. I’m going to share how God helped me in those moments of my life. Psalm 94: 18-19 says, “When I said, my foot slippeth; thy mercy, O Lord, held me up.” This is one of the verses I always go too. God brings me out every time.
I remember feeling like I’ve failed in life, my children, death, and lost relationships. We all know know that dealing with failure is hard. All of the what ifs, or I could’ve done this/that, and the I wish, everyday life takes a toll on us. I recall waking up one day, and I no longer wanted to live. I was having a hard time dealing with that fact. I honestly thought that dying would be easier than living. My depression got so bad that I stopped eating. I no longer had an appetite. I would get up every morning and go through the motions of pretending everything was okay. One night, I decided that I was done with everything. I had no one to talk to, no one I could trust or feel comfortable enough to share my feelings with. I was tired of it all. I remember laying in bed that night, I cried and said “God I need you to please help me. I don’t want to feel like this anymore.” I remember that my sleep was peaceful that night. When I woke up the next morning, I was in my bathroom getting ready for work. I heard God say look up and as I looked up in the mirror. I spoke the words, “I’m coming out of this.” At that moment, that heavy spirit was lifted. I no longer felt heavy, sad, burdened, and depressed. I WANTED TO LIVE. No one can ever tell me that God doesn’t hear me when I pray. Psalm 118: 17 states, ” I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the lord.” God hears us when we’re coming from a place of honesty, realness, and good intentions.
I felt like I had no one to talk to. It’s okay to talk to someone about your feelings. God created people for us to talk too. You’re not alone. God wants us to talk to him about everything. Even the things we won’t say outloud. God is here for us. He will never leave us. Deuteronomy 31:8 states, “And the Lord, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.” If you feel down, don’t stay there. Come out of those negative thoughts about yourself, life, and other people. There’s no mistake or problem that God won’t fix. Our thoughts and words affect our everyday lives. You have a choice and how your life goes. Cast down wrong thoughts, think about where those thoughts are coming from. Whatever state of mind you’re in, God will bring you out of it. Philippians 2:5 tells us, “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.” God wants our minds to be strong and confident in him. Ask God to order and guide your thoughts. There’s quietness and peace when we allow God to be in control.
Always remember 2 Timothy 1:7 states, “For God hath not giving us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of A SOUND MIND.” I pray this helps you. Be the light. May God bless and keep you.
